I always find it funny and interesting that there is not often a moment in this show when the Hand, King, Queen(s), and other high court members really work together like they are supposed to as one united government. Like here, the Hand literally pulls a coup in the name of the Old King against the Queen and the New King, but the Lord Commander goes against him and his own "ally" betrays him. A very dysfunctional state.

Imagine if this was Daemon Targaryen's Goldcloaks. Not only would they be armored in plate armor like knights, but Daemon would actually have the integrity to arrest the Lannister bastard and his mother. Especially since Ned was against assassinating the last of the Targaryen heirs. He'd go along with Ned's plan and arrest the Lannisters.
